What is GentleMaxPro?
GentleMaxPro is a revolutionary technology in hair removal. The motion of GentleMaxPro technology allows for extremely even heating of hair follicles that minimizes missed areas that occur with traditional hair removal devices. By sending multiple low-fluence pulses at a high repetition rate, GentleMaxPro provides a treatment that is safe, fast, efficacious, and comfortable. Pulsed light delivers photothermal energy to hair follicles; The rapid, short pulses of light cause the hair follicle to stop producing hair without harming any surrounding tissue.
What areas can GentleMaxPro Treat?
The most common areas that are treated with Forever Bare BBL are:
- Under Arms
- Full Arms
- Bikini Area
How does GentleMaxPro work?
The GentleMax Pro® system uses two powerful forms of laser technology, YAG and Alexandrite energies. This unique combination of lasers delivers just the right amount of controlled, intense energy to safely and effectively disable hair follicles so they can no longer produce. The consolidated laser system targets the pigment in hairs, vaporizes the strands, and transfers heat into the walls of individual follicles. This creates controlled damage in the follicles without affecting the surrounding skin.
What should I do before the procedure?
Laser hair removal is a safe and effective procedure when performed by a trained professional. Patients can also increase the effects of each session and decrease risks like burns or blisters by following a few simple steps before their appointment. These include:
- Arrive for appointments with clean skin that is free of fragrances, creams, lotions, and oils.
- Shave the treatment area within 24 hours of the appointment. This shortens the path of energy and can eliminate unnecessary discomfort during treatment.
- Shave, but do not wax, pluck, or use chemicals to remove hair.
- Avoid sun exposure and sunless tanning. Tanned skin can decrease efficiency and also increase skin irritation after treatment.
- Avoid topical products that may cause photosensitivity, including some essential oils, for 3 days prior to treatment.
- Alert your provider if you are taking any new medications not discussed in your consultation, including antibiotics.
- Avoid beauty treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and injectables in the treatment area for 14 days before laser hair removal.
What to expect during my GentleMaxPro Treatment
During your procedure, a clear gel will be applied to the skin. Then, your treatment provider will apply a cooling applicator in which laser energy is delivered. During the treatment, some patients experience a warm or stinging sensation in the treatment area. For your safety, your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. The treatment time varies depending on the size of the area being treated, your individual hair, and your skin type.
What should I expect after the laser hair removal procedure?
After laser hair removal, it is normal to experience redness in the treatment area. The skin may also look slightly swollen. This can last several days. At first, the skin may feel like you’ve got a sunburn. This can last from a few hours to a couple of days, though the sensation should decrease consistently over time. The hair in the treated area typically sheds over the course of about two weeks. Hair may regrow in between sessions but typically looks thinner and lighter each time treatment is performed.
Patients may be advised to avoid sun exposure and excessive heat for at least 24 hours after getting laser hair removal. Exposure could increase the chances of pigment or textural changes and scarring. Topical products that contain acids like alpha-hydroxy acid, retinol, and benzoyl peroxide should be avoided for 3 days after laser hair removal. Injectables and other skin treatments should be avoided in the treatment area for 14 days.
